Job Description

As a Legal and Governance Intern, you will be reporting directly to the Legal and Governance Manager and assisting in various legal and corporate governance functions. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring contract implementation and ensuring compliance with contract requirements
  • Liaising with stakeholders and service providers regarding contract signing, monitoring, and termination
  • Tracking and managing contracts while providing timely notifications on termination and expiry dates
  • Ensuring accurate filing and safekeeping of all legal documents
  • Participating in legal compliance and corporate governance workshops, conferences, and awareness programs
  • Providing legal, corporate governance, and compliance support to different departments and business units
  • Assisting in the preparation of legal documents and compliance reports
  • Supporting the rollout and dissemination of MQA Policies to staff members
  • Engaging with stakeholders and service providers to ensure smooth service delivery and resolution of queries
  • Collaborating with line managers to maintain a consistent approach in query resolution

Ideal Candidate

To qualify for this internship opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Grade 12/Matric Certificate
  • A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Legal or Corporate Governance
  • An NQF Level 8 qualification in Law will be an added advantage

Role Responsibility

As an intern in the Legal and Governance Unit, you will be expected to:

  • Gain an understanding of contract law and corporate governance principles
  • Develop essential legal drafting and contract management skills
  • Support legal professionals in ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Assist with policy implementation and corporate governance frameworks
  • Participate in legal and compliance training sessions
