Job Description:
The Cashier position is an integral part of our retail operations. The primary purpose of the role is to assist customers by accurately processing purchases while ensuring an exceptional customer experience. The successful candidate will operate the point-of-sale terminal and handle transactions efficiently and courteously.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a Matric certificate or NQF level 4 equivalent
- Has previous cashier experience, either part-time or as a trainee
- Exhibits excellent numerical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Is customer-service oriented with a positive attitude
- Possesses the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
- Shows reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to work flexible hours
Role Responsibilities:
- Operating front-end equipment, including:
- Point of Sale (POS) terminal
- Debit Card terminal
- Speedpoint
- Veri-cheque
- Smartbox
- Zip Zap
- Processing different forms of tender, including:
- Cash transactions
- Cheques
- Gift vouchers
- Bank cards
- Pensioners’ cards
- Ensuring accurate scanning and pricing of items
- Handling customer inquiries and resolving complaints professionally
- Maintaining stock control at the checkout counter
- Upholding hygiene, safety, and housekeeping standards
- Assisting in promotional activities and ensuring correct signage placement
- Adhering to company policies and loss prevention procedures

- Ability to operate POS systems efficiently
