Job Description

The Merchandiser will play a vital role in ensuring that Smollan’s partnered stores are always visually appealing, well-stocked, and professionally presented to maximize the customer shopping experience. You’ll be the driving force behind product displays and inventory management – key elements that influence store performance and customer satisfaction.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Stock Management
  • Unpacking, organizing, and counting stock
  • Documenting stock levels and maintaining accurate inventory records
• Visual Merchandising
  • Creating eye-catching displays and layouts
  • Designing point-of-sale signs and advertising materials to promote sales
• Product Maintenance
  • Ensuring products are displayed neatly, correctly priced, and up to date
  • Removing expired, damaged, or old stock from shelves
• Collaboration
  • Working closely with the sales and marketing teams
  • Aligning merchandising efforts with promotional strategies
• Customer Service
  • Assisting customers with product information
  • Handling queries, feedback, and complaints professionally
• Store Maintenance
  • Keeping shelves, floor areas, and stock rooms clean and organized

Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
• Own a smartphone with at least 10GB of available storage
• Vodacom SIM card (mandatory if selected)
• Must live within 15km of the job location
• Clear criminal record

Additional preferred experience:

• Prior work experience in merchandising, sales, or customer service
• Strong knowledge of retail operations and inventory management
• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Role Responsibility

As a Merchandiser, you will be expected to:

• Travel between different retail stores as required
