Background & Job Description
The YES 4 Youth Programme is a flagship empowerment initiative launched in partnership with South Africa’s Youth Employment Service (YES), aimed at creating work opportunities for unemployed youth across the country. DHL Supply Chain South Africa is now seeking a passionate and motivated young individual to participate in this programme at their Kempton Park facility in Gauteng.
This is a unique 12-month workplace experience programme designed to provide structured on-the-job training in logistics and supply chain operations. The selected candidate will be exposed to practical, real-world operations that will boost their employability within South Africa’s dynamic logistics and transport industry.
Tasks
As part of the DHL YES 4 Youth programme, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Learning and understanding client requirements clearly and efficiently
- Following delivery procedures for all loading and offloading tasks
- Timely reporting of any equipment defects or malfunctions
- Ensuring adherence to operating procedures and safety protocols
- Working in various business-defined operating areas
- Recording and reporting any non-conformities concerning customer merchandise
- Supporting the team and adapting to instructions from Team Leaders and Managers
- Delivering on allocated tasks in alignment with performance KPIs
- Upholding the brand image of DHL as a reliable and professional company representative
Qualifications
To be eligible for the YES 4 Youth opportunity at DHL Supply Chain, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Aged between 18 and 29 years old
- Currently unemployed
- Hold a valid Matric certificate (compulsory subjects: English and Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy)
- Must be a BBB-EE candidate
Experience
No prior work experience is required. This programme is targeted at first-time job seekers who are eager to gain industry-relevant skills and practical experience in the logistics and supply chain environment.
