Background & Job Description
Eskom Rotek Industries (ERI), a leading division under Eskom responsible for providing maintenance, manufacturing, and construction services, is offering a 2-year internship opportunity for twelve (12) aspiring Engineers in Training (Mechanical). This initiative falls within the Turbo Gen Services (TGS) business unit, specifically in the Boiler Pressure Parts division.
Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience and essential engineering exposure at various Eskom sites. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic study and professional work, enhancing both technical and leadership capabilities within a real-world setting.
Tasks
Selected Engineers in Training will be expected to engage in the following core activities:
- Assist with mechanical engineering tasks related to boiler pressure systems.
- Support project teams with planning, installation, and maintenance operations.
- Participate in problem-solving workshops and technical investigations.
- Conduct research and analysis to improve mechanical performance and reliability.
- Ensure safety protocols and company policies are adhered to at all times.
- Compile reports and technical documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must possess one of the following mechanical engineering qualifications:
- B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering
- B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
No prior working experience is required. This program is specifically designed for recent graduates or final-year students who are eager to enter the engineering field.
However, candidates must demonstrate:
- Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, safety-critical environment
- Willingness to work on-site in various operational contexts
