Tasks

General Assistants at Northlink College will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance duties around college facilities
  • Clean classrooms, offices, workshops, and public areas
  • Assist with logistical arrangements for college events and daily operations
  • Ensure readiness and usability of facilities on a day-to-day basis
  • Support administrative and academic staff with physical tasks
  • Help with deliveries and relocation of furniture or equipment
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards as per college policies

Qualifications

  • Minimum education level required: Grade 10 (or Grade 9 in some cases)
  • Functional literacy in reading and writing
  • Bilingual communication ability in English and Afrikaans or English and isiXhosa is advantageous
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills and work ethic

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in general maintenance, cleaning, logistics, or similar roles
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out physical work
  • Experience in an educational or institutional environment will be an added advantage
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work outdoors when needed
  • Consistent track record of reliability and punctuality
