Tasks
General Assistants at Northlink College will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance duties around college facilities
- Clean classrooms, offices, workshops, and public areas
- Assist with logistical arrangements for college events and daily operations
- Ensure readiness and usability of facilities on a day-to-day basis
- Support administrative and academic staff with physical tasks
- Help with deliveries and relocation of furniture or equipment
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards as per college policies
Qualifications
- Minimum education level required: Grade 10 (or Grade 9 in some cases)
- Functional literacy in reading and writing
- Bilingual communication ability in English and Afrikaans or English and isiXhosa is advantageous
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- Good interpersonal skills and work ethic
Experience
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in general maintenance, cleaning, logistics, or similar roles
- Demonstrated ability to carry out physical work
- Experience in an educational or institutional environment will be an added advantage
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work outdoors when needed
- Consistent track record of reliability and punctuality
