Job Description:
The General Worker is responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth functioning and cleanliness of the retail facility. This role involves manual labour and customer interaction, contributing directly to the customer service experience and operational efficiency of VKB Retail.
The responsibilities include:

• Performing general housekeeping duties on the premises
• Assisting with loading and offloading of goods for customers and suppliers
• Ensuring cleanliness of the work environment at all times
• Handling stock control processes where necessary
• Following company safety procedures during all tasks
• Supporting team members with ad hoc duties

This position requires a basic induction and offers on-the-job training, making it ideal for individuals looking to develop skills and gain valuable workplace experience.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
• Previous experience in a general worker or similar manual labour position is beneficial but not mandatory
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions
• Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and productivity
• Must have good interpersonal skills for customer interaction
• Flexibility to handle ad hoc tasks and assist different departments

Role Responsibility:

• Maintain general tidiness and hygiene of the store and surrounding premises
• Clean retail floor, storerooms, and customer service areas regularly
• Help customers load and unload goods while maintaining VKB’s service standards
• Receive stock deliveries and assist in organising the storeroom
• Comply with all health and safety regulations on-site
• Respond quickly and efficiently to any requests from managers or senior staff
• Represent VKB Retail in a professional and customer-focused manner
