Job Description:
The Econofoods Retail Learnership Programme 2025 is designed to offer candidates both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in the retail sector. The programme combines structured classroom learning with on-the-job retail training at various Econofoods store locations. The focus is on developing industry-specific skills, building a foundation in customer service, sales, inventory management, and retail operations, and preparing learners for a successful future in the FMCG retail environment.

Participants will work closely with experienced professionals and mentors who will guide their development throughout the duration of the programme. The learnership aims to equip learners with the skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to the business while pursuing a formal qualification.

Requirements:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Not currently studying or enrolled in any other study programme
  • Willing to commit to a 12-month learnership starting on 01 August 2025
  • Reside in one of the following provinces: Gauteng, Free State, or Eastern Cape
  • Willing and able to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
  • Capable of travelling to and from assigned store locations
  • Prepared to participate in structured training and on-site work experience
  • Monthly stipend of R4,000.00 will be provided

Application Documentation:
Candidates must ensure they submit the following certified documents (certification not older than 6 months):

  • Updated CV/Resume
  • Certified copy of Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Certified copy of South African ID (both sides if an ID card)

Role Responsibility:
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist customers by providing friendly and helpful service
  • Learn point-of-sale (POS) operations and cash handling procedures
  • Assist in stock receiving, merchandising, and maintaining inventory levels
  • Participate in promotional setups and ensure product displays are attractive and clean
  • Adhere to company policies and retail procedures
  • Support daily store operations including opening/closing procedures
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and maintain high levels of professionalism
  • Complete all training modules and assessments in line with the programme requirements
