Job Description:
Successful applicants will enroll in the Basic Police Development Learning Programme (BPDLP) that spans 21 months, divided into three training phases. The aim is to produce capable, mentally and physically fit officers who can contribute meaningfully to crime prevention and law enforcement across the country.
During training, selected candidates will:
- Receive free training, accommodation, uniforms, and meals
- Be provided with medical aid benefits
- Undergo physical, psychological, and academic training
- Be placed at SAPS Academies nationwide
- Upon successful completion, be considered for permanent appointment as Constables

Requirements:
To qualify for the SAPS Police Traineeship Programme 2025/2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen with permanent residency
- Possess a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification
- Be aged between 18 and 35 years
- Be proficient in English and at least one other official language
- Not have any criminal record or pending case
- Be willing to undergo background and security checks
- Be ready to undergo fitness, medical, and psychological assessments
- Not have visible tattoos when in uniform
- Be prepared to swear an oath of office
- Be willing to serve at any police station/unit in South Africa
- A valid driving licence (Code B) will serve as an advantage
Role Responsibility:
Once training is complete, appointed Constables will perform the following duties:
- Prevent, combat, and investigate crime
- Maintain public order and ensure peace
- Protect the citizens and their property
- Enforce the law fairly and consistently
- Participate in crime prevention campaigns
- Collaborate with the judicial system and community stakeholders
