This 12-month programme, hosted by the Mangaung Traffic Training Academy, provides participants with accredited training, real-world experience, and a pathway to a Certificate in Road Traffic and Law Enforcement (NQF Level 4). Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Possess a valid Code B driver’s licence (manual transmission only).
  • Provide a SAPS clearance certificate (no criminal record).
  • Submit proof of medical fitness (physical and mental).
  • Be a permanent resident within Ngwathe Municipality’s jurisdiction (Parys, Vredefort, Heilbron, Koppies, Edenville).

Additional requirements:

  • Pass a written assessment and interview.
  • Meet physical fitness standards throughout the training.
  • Be willing to wear a uniform, work shifts, and operate in all weather conditions.
  • Undergo firearms training in line with the Firearm and Ammunitions Act.

Role Responsibility

As a Traffic Trainee, you will be trained and expected to:

  • Enforce traffic laws and municipal by-laws.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and road safety checks.
  • Direct traffic during accidents, events, and emergencies.
  • Promote awareness of the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Assist in reducing road accidents and fatalities in the community.
