What is SAB Engineering Apprenticeships 2025?
The SAB Engineering Apprenticeships 2025 is a structured 3–4 year training programme designed to develop skilled artisans in South Africa. Apprentices will benefit from SETA-accredited learning, in-house technical training, and real workplace exposure within SAB’s advanced production facilities. The initiative is part of SAB’s commitment to empowering youth, building technical expertise, and supporting economic growth in the country.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Minimum National Technical Certificate (N4) in a relevant trade
- Higher qualifications such as N5 or N6 will be advantageous
- Demonstrated aptitude for engineering
Trades Offered
SAB apprenticeships are available in the following engineering disciplines:
- Millwright
- Fitter & Turner
- Electrical
- Instrumentation & Control
Role Responsibility
Successful apprentices will:
- Complete a structured 3–4 year apprenticeship programme
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy work environment
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Gain technical skills and practical workplace knowledge
- Manage plant, equipment, spares, and technical documentation
- Plan, prepare, and budget for maintenance tasks
- Evaluate, repair, and maintain machinery
- Continuously improve systems, processes, and equipment
- Develop trade-specific technical competence
