Introduction

The City of Joburg Metrobus is offering unemployed residents of Johannesburg an opportunity to join their workforce through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). Metrobus has announced 135 General Worker positions available on a 12-month contract basis. This initiative is designed to provide temporary employment, promote skills development, and improve service delivery across the city.

What is City of Joburg Metrobus Recruiting EPWP General Workers?

The Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) at Metrobus is a government-led initiative aimed at reducing unemployment by creating short-term work opportunities. Through this programme, Metrobus will employ 135 General Workers who will support the organization’s daily operations and contribute to community service delivery.

This programme not only provides a source of income but also gives participants valuable workplace exposure and practical experience that can improve their employability in the future.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum qualification: Grade 10 or NCV Level 4
• Age between 18 and 45 years
• Must be unemployed at the time of application
• Must be a South African citizen residing in Johannesburg (proof of address required)
• Applicants must attach certified copies of:

  • Qualification(s)
  • Updated CV
• Applicants must be prepared to provide original documents when requested
• Internal applicants should include their employee number

Role Responsibility

The responsibilities of EPWP General Workers at Metrobus will include:

• Assisting with operational support across depots and outlets
• Providing manual labour services as required by the organization
• Supporting maintenance and cleaning operations
• Assisting staff with administrative and operational duties
• Promoting safe and efficient service delivery
• Contributing to Metrobus’ commitment to community development and public service
