What is Kopanang Gold Mine Internship Programme?
The Kopanang Gold Mine Internship Programme provides unemployed South African youth with training and work experience in critical mining-related fields. It equips participants with practical skills and knowledge that are essential for building a career in the mining and engineering sector.
Internship Fields Available
- Geology – Study minerals, rock formations, and underground resources.
- Survey / Planning – Develop mapping, measuring, and technical planning skills.
- Rock Engineering – Learn how to manage underground stability and safety.
- Mining – Hands-on exposure to mining operations, processes, and safety practices.
- Environmental – Gain expertise in sustainable practices and compliance within mining.
This is a 24-month programme that blends theory with real-world practice, ensuring graduates leave with skills that are workplace-ready.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be South African citizens aged between 18 and 35
- Provide proof of residence (water and lights account or signed affidavit)
- Hold a Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- Be medically fit for required duties
- Pass a security screening process
- Preference will be given to unemployed youth from local communities
Role Responsibility
Interns will:
- Participate in structured training and mentorship sessions
- Gain exposure to mining operations and fieldwork in their chosen discipline
- Contribute to technical and safety-related projects under supervision
