Introduction
The EASTC Technocentric Varsity Skills Development Programme 2025 is a dynamic initiative launched in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Economic Development. It aims to empower unemployed youth with practical and technical training in the Clothing, Textile, Leather, and Footwear (CTLF) sector.
This 12-month programme blends classroom instruction with hands-on training, equipping participants with industry-relevant expertise to succeed in the fast-growing manufacturing and design space. It not only builds employability but also inspires entrepreneurship among young South Africans.
What is EASTC Technocentric Varsity Skills Development Programme?
The programme is a full-year learning and training opportunity in the CTLF industry. Participants will gain skills across multiple focus areas, including:
- Clothing Manufacturing – Cutting, sewing, and garment assembly.
- Textile Processing – Fabric preparation, treatment, and finishing.
- Leather Goods Production – Crafting belts, bags, and accessories.
- Footwear Design – Developing durable and stylish footwear products.
By completion, learners will be equipped with market-ready skills, opening doors to full-time employment or business creation in the fashion and manufacturing industries.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the EASTC Skills Development Programme 2025, applicants must:
- Be aged 18–35 years old.
- Reside in the City of Tshwane.
- Have completed at least Grade 10.
- Be currently unemployed.
- Show genuine interest in the Clothing, Textile, Leather, and Footwear industry.
- Commit to the 12-month full-time training.
- Demonstrate passion for fashion, manufacturing, textiles, or design.

- A detailed CV.
- A certified copy of your South African ID (not older than 3 months).
- Certified copies of educational qualifications.
- Proof of residence in Tshwane.

Role Responsibility
Learners in the EASTC Skills Development Programme will:
- Participate in both theoretical training and practical workshops.

- Produce garments, textiles, leather products, and footwear during training.

- Apply acquired skills in simulated workplace projects.
