Introduction
The African Global Skills Academy (AGSA), in partnership with the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA), is inviting unemployed youth to apply for the Food & Beverage Services Learnership Programme 2025.
This is an accredited 12-month programme that provides both theoretical knowledge and workplace experience. Successful candidates will graduate with a National Certificate: Food & Beverage Services (NQF Level 4), recognised across South Africa’s hospitality industry.
What is AGSA & CATHSSETA Food & Beverage Services Learnership?
The Food & Beverage Services Learnership is a skills development programme aimed at empowering unemployed young South Africans with industry-relevant training. Learners will gain expertise in food service operations, customer care, hospitality etiquette, and event operations while receiving a monthly stipend.
Programme Details:
- Start Date: 1 October 2025
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification: National Certificate in Food & Beverage Services (NQF Level 4)
- Stipend: R3,500 per month (for full attendance)
- Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- South African citizen aged 18 – 35
- Residing in the Western Cape (Cape Town area)
- Currently unemployed
- Matric certificate or Grade 11 report (certified within 6 months)
- Updated CV
- Certified copy of South African ID (not older than 6 months)
- Persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply
Role Responsibility
Learners enrolled in the programme will:
- Assist in food and beverage preparation and service
- Gain practical workplace exposure in restaurants, hotels, and catering environments
- Learn customer service and hospitality best practices
- Participate in both classroom-based and hands-on training sessions
- Complete all learning modules and workplace assessments
