The Electrician vacancy at Petra Diamonds involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of both Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical equipment. • Conducting inspections in line with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations
• Reporting faults, defects, and unsafe conditions to the Foreman and Control Room

• Performing preventive maintenance to reduce downtime

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to be considered:

• Trade Certificate (Electrician) from a recognized/accredited institution (preferably through an apprenticeship)
• Valid driver’s license
• At least 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience, including trade-related exposure
• Grade 12 certificate or N3 qualification (advantageous)
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite essential)

Role Responsibility

Key responsibilities for the Electrician position include:

• Provide technical expertise to improve departmental efficiency
• Inspect equipment and report defects in compliance with company standards
• Identify and order required spare parts
• Participate in planned shutdowns and ensure availability of tools and resources
• Perform MV and LV switching, testing, and fault-finding
• Maintain capacitor banks, substations, and protection systems
• De-energize and lock-out equipment before repair or maintenance
• Install lighting systems, control cables, and electrical distribution systems
• Ensure proper housekeeping and record-keeping of all maintenance activities
