Department of Agriculture Bursaries for 2025 The Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) is excited to announce the opening of applications for their 2025 Bursary Programme. This programme is designed to support South African students in pursuing careers in agriculture, land reform, and rural development, with a special focus on individuals from previously disadvantaged and rural communities.

All applications must be submitted by 30 September 2024. Ensure that your application is complete and submitted before this date to be considered.
Bursary Coverage
The DALRRD bursary provides comprehensive financial assistance, including:
- Tuition Fees: Full coverage of all academic fees.
- Accommodation: Costs for student housing or residence facilities.
- Books: Coverage for textbooks and academic materials.
- Meals: Provision for daily meals.
- Monthly Allowance: A stipend for personal and miscellaneous expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
The bursary programme is open to students pursuing various fields within the agriculture, land reform, and rural development sectors. Specific academic requirements include:
BSc Eng. Agricultural (Bioresource) Engineering and Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.)
- Mathematics and Physical Science: Minimum score of 6 (70-79%)
BSc Agric. Entomology, BSc Agric. Food Science, BSc Agric. Pasture Science, BSc Agric. Plant Pathology, BSc Agric. Soil Science, BSc Agric. Agronomy, BSc Agric. Viticulture and Oenology
- Mathematics and Physical Science: Minimum score of 5 (60-69%)
BAS Food Science and Technology and Diploma in Food Technology
- Mathematics and Physical Science: Minimum score of 4 (50-59%)
B.Sc. Land Surveying/Geomatics, B.Sc. Town/Urban and Regional Planning, B.Sc. Geo-informatics/Geographic Information Science
- Mathematics and Physical Science/Geography: Minimum score of 5 (60-69%)
National Diploma/B Degree in Geomatics/Land Surveying/GIS and National Diploma/B Degree in Town/Urban and Regional Planning
- Mathematics and Physical Science: Minimum score of 4 (50-59%)
Postgraduate Studies in DALRRD Priority Research Projects
- Includes Advanced Diploma, B. Tech, B.Sc. Hons, M.Sc., D.Tech., and Ph.D. programmes.
Important Considerations
- Applicants who do not yet have their university acceptance letter or final results may still apply and provide these documents later.
- Applications for fields of study not listed in the eligibility criteria will not be considered.
- Late applications will not be accepted.
- Only successful applicants will be contacted. If you do not receive communication within 14 days after the release of Grade 12 results and the finalisation of the selection process by the National Bursary Committee, consider your application unsuccessful.
