Boxer Superstore is actively seeking a dynamic Merchandise Planner to develop and execute strategic seasonal merchandise plans for designated categories. This role requires a balance of analytical skills and a deep understanding of retail trends to ensure that the product assortment aligns with the company’s overall strategy, past sales performance, and current market trends, ultimately delivering a contemporary homeware range that excites and delights our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Stock and Sales Forecasting:
You will be responsible for creating precise sales forecasts to determine optimal stock levels, ensuring that the right products are available to maximize revenue and gross profit for your assigned categories. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the balance between supply and demand, driving the business’s profitability.
Trade Optimization:
Constantly seek opportunities to enhance the current execution of planned stock and sales forecasts. By identifying areas of risk and opportunity, you will implement actions to maintain the forecasted sales trajectory and optimize trade performance for your product categories.
Merchandise Process Management:
Lead the preparation and presentation of well-researched merchandise proposals, supported by comprehensive data analysis, market research, and industry best practices. Your innovative approach will contribute to creating a curated assortment of high-quality, fashionable, and contemporary homeware that resonates with our value-conscious customers and drives both sales and profitability.
Reporting and Analysis:
Under the guidance of the Senior Planner, extract, analyze, and interpret key data to provide valuable insights. Your reports will play a vital role in day-to-day operations and the Merchandise Review Process, contributing to the refinement and success of seasonal merchandise strategies.
Administrative Support:
Ensure the smooth operation of the Planning department by efficiently handling various administrative tasks that support the execution of the business strategy. Your organizational skills will help maintain seamless processes within the team.
Educational Requirements:
- A relevant Degree or Diploma, such as a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics, Retail Business Management, or Economics.
Experience Requirements:
- 2–4 years of planning experience within the retail industry.
- 1–2 years of experience as a Junior Planner.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong business acumen and numerical skills.
- In-depth understanding of retail operations and stock flow management.
- Expertise in sales forecasting and analysis.
- Familiarity with planning KPIs and global logistics principles.
- Hands-on experience with planning and replenishment systems.
- Knowledge of demand and fulfillment principles.
- Operational understanding of store grading and profiling.
