Dept of Justice x3 Maintenance Investigator 2024 Are you looking to kickstart or further your career in the legal or administrative field? The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has opened exciting job opportunities for three Maintenance Investigator positions, offering a competitive salary ranging from R308 154 to R362 994 per annum. These roles are based at Magistrate Courts in Port Shepstone, Emlazi, and Ntuzuma, KwaZulu-Natal. Successful candidates will be required to sign a performance agreement.

Requirements:

To be eligible for the Maintenance Investigator position, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent qualification.
  • Administrative experience, particularly in family law matters.
  • Knowledge of the Maintenance Act (Act 99 of 1998).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Numeracy skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to interact with the public professionally and empathetically.
  • Ability to explain legal terminology in simple, clear language.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Facilitation skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Maintenance Investigator, your key performance areas will include:

  • Serving maintenance summons, subpoenas, warrants, and garnishee orders for the district in line with the Maintenance Act.
  • Locating individuals and providing relevant testimony in court under oath.
  • Offering administrative support to the office.
