City of Joburg: Public Housing Internships 2024 The City of Johannesburg, also known as Joburg or Jozi, is offering exciting Public Housing Internship opportunities for 2024. These internships provide a stepping stone for young South Africans to gain hands-on experience in the public housing sector, contributing to the city’s mission of providing quality, affordable housing to its residents. The internships are structured to offer professional growth and practical exposure in the field, supporting Joburg’s vision of inclusive urban development.

The Public Housing Internship Program is designed to empower individuals by offering on-the-job training, skills development, and career progression opportunities. Interns will work closely with experienced housing officials, contributing to the development and management of public housing initiatives. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting, and gain valuable experience in local government housing services.


Remuneration:

  • Qualification completed with a minimum of 360 credits: R9 531.54 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)
  • Enrolled as a student: R3 500.00 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
  • Grade 12 (NQF level 4)
  • National Diploma in Town Planning/Civil Engineering/Project Management/Construction Management (NQF level 7) or
  • N6 qualification in any built environment field (for candidates needing in-service training)
  • Additional Requirement: Enrollment confirmation letter from the educational institution
  • Residency: Only City of Johannesburg residents will be considered

Primary Function:

Provide project and administrative support. Act as a Project Coordinator on Public Housing Programmes and projects under the Public Housing Programme directorate within the Department of Human Settlements.

  • Programme Coordination: Coordinate and monitor programmes and projects executed by the Public Housing Programme directorate.
  • Compliance: Ensure procurement strategies, building contracts, and tender documents adhere to departmental requirements and procedures.
