Job Overview

Midvaal Local Municipality, through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), aims to reduce unemployment and alleviate poverty by creating temporary work opportunities for unemployed individuals.

The municipality is recruiting 30 EPWP General Workers for the:

  • Public Safety and Roads Department (Roads Section)
  • Engineering Services Department (Water, Purification and Sewer Sections)

Available Positions

  • Roads and Storm Water Section – 20 Posts
  • Engineering Services – 10 Posts

Applicants must clearly indicate the section they are applying for.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10
  • Must be bilingual and at least understand English
  • Must reside within Midvaal Local Municipality jurisdiction
  • Ability to follow and execute instructions
  • Good physical health and basic understanding of labour work
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties in different weather conditions
  • Hard-working and self-disciplined
  • 0–1 year experience in general worker/labour-intensive duties
  • Must be unemployed or serving the final 3 months of a contract

Duties

  • Loading and off-loading materials, tools, and equipment
  • Placing traffic signs near municipal road work areas
  • Cleaning working areas using manual labour tools/equipment
  • Operating manual and electrical tools
  • Executing instructions from supervisors
  • Performing ad hoc labour-related duties as required

Important Applicant Notes

  • Due to operational requirements, these EPWP positions are available for male candidates only
  • Preference will be given to youth between 18–35 years
  • The programme targets unskilled and semi-skilled applicants
  • These are temporary EPWP opportunities and do not guarantee permanent employment

Disqualification Conditions

Applications may be disqualified if:

  • Information is misrepresented
