Key Responsibilities:

As a Staff Nurse, you will work under the supervision of a Professional Nurse, delivering high-quality nursing care and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. Your key duties will include:

  • Observing and reporting abnormalities in patient health.
  • Supervising Enrolled Auxiliary Nurses and Community Health Workers.
  • Providing nursing care in alignment with the Batho Pele principles and the 6 Ministerial Priorities.
  • Ensuring the provision of essential patient care needs such as oxygen supply, nutrition, fluid balance, and a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Screening patients for health-related conditions such as TB, HIV, and other illnesses.
  • Analyzing patient reports, maintaining records, and reporting to a Professional Nurse.
  • Maintaining ethical standards, professional growth, and upholding a solid understanding of nursing processes and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Qualification: A qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
  • Registration: Proof of current registration with SANC will be required for shortlisted candidates.
  • Experience: (Less one year of experience for candidates appointed outside of the Public Service after complying with registration requirements).
  • Skills: Strong communication and report-writing skills, the ability to work under pressure, and good organizational and teamwork abilities.
  • Additional Requirements: You will be required to work shifts, including weekends.
