  • Duration: 3 years
  • Probation: 6-month probation period
  • Qualification: Tractor or Earthmoving Mechanic

Training Includes:

  • Practical Training: Hands-on experience in repair and maintenance.
  • Distance Learning: Academic support through structured learning.
  • Product-Specific Training: Courses provided at the renowned John Deere Training Facility and other internal programs.

Key Responsibilities of an AFGRI Apprentice:

  • Train to become a skilled Mechanic/Technician.
  • Repair and maintain tractors or earthmoving machinery.
  • Stock control of parts and equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with general workplace tasks, ensuring smooth operations.

Minimum Requirements:

To be eligible for the AFGRI Apprenticeship Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong communication, administrative, and computer skills.
  • N2 qualification with the following subjects:
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering Science
    • Diesel Trade Theory
    • One additional subject, such as Industrial Electronics, Engineering/Technical Drawing, or Motor Trade Theory.

Alternatively, applicants with a Matric Certificate are eligible if they have completed relevant subjects like:

  • Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
  • Physical Science
  • Engineering Graphics and Design
