The District Aide will be responsible for essential tasks that ensure Rand Water’s infrastructure operates seamlessly. Here’s what the role entails:

Pipeline, Valve, and Meter Maintenance: Performing general repairs and ongoing maintenance to ensure the longevity and efficiency of water distribution systems.
Pipeline Patrols: Conduct regular inspections and patrols by bicycle, ensuring rapid detection and response to potential issues.
Standby Duties: Be available for standby shifts, ready to address emergency repairs and unplanned maintenance needs.
Grounds Upkeep: Maintain clean and safe premises around operational sites, including landscaping and general cleaning duties.
Facility Cleaning: Assist in keeping buildings, offices, and operational areas clean and orderly.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for the District Aide role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education: Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
Experience: At least one year in a similar maintenance or repair role, preferably in a water services or utility environment.
Skills: Strong communication skills, basic maintenance skills, and the ability to ride a bicycle for regular patrols.
Knowledge: Familiarity with general maintenance practices, safety protocols, and safe working procedures.
