Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications and criteria:
Educational Qualifications
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NQF Level 4).
Certifications
- Registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
- Possession of a minimum Grade C security certificate.
Legal Compliance
- Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Advantageous Qualifications
- A Diploma or Degree in security-related fields.
- Completion of relevant security courses.
- A valid driver’s license for light motor vehicles or higher.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will handle diverse security duties to ensure the safety and protection of SAPS premises and personnel. Responsibilities include:
- Access Control
- Regulate access to SAPS premises and vehicles.
- Enforce compliance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985).
- Visitor Management
- Verify visitor identities and issue access control cards.
- Maintain and monitor access registers.
- Security Monitoring
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, equipment, and personnel.
- Identify and mitigate potential security threats.
- Supervision
- Oversee cleaners and maintenance staff to ensure their activities align with security protocols.
- Equipment Maintenance
- Regularly inspect security equipment and report deficiencies to senior personnel.
- Shift Work
- Work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
