ADvTECH, a leading private education provider in South Africa, invites applications for a Psychologist Internship for 2025. This opportunity is open to candidates who have completed or are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Counselling or Educational Psychology and are eligible for registration as an intern psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
The internship aims to equip emerging psychologists with the practical experience, competencies, and professional ethics required to function independently in school settings. Interns will play an integral role in promoting mental wellness and student support in ADvTECH’s group of prestigious IIE schools, known for their culture of academic excellence and character-building.
Tasks
Interns will be immersed in a supportive and professionally enriching environment, where they will be expected to:
- Provide individual and group counselling services to learners.
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments to support learner development.
- Assist in crisis intervention and emotional support cases.
- Work collaboratively with school-based support teams to implement tailored interventions.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver workshops and seminars promoting emotional wellbeing and resilience.
- Maintain accurate case history records, prepare monthly progress reports, and compile statistics.
- Participate in supervision sessions and attend case conferences.
- Contribute to holiday programmes that support student development.
Qualifications
To be considered for the internship, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Hold or be in the process of completing a Master’s degree in Psychology (Counselling or Educational) from a recognized and accredited higher education institution.
- Be eligible for HPCSA registration as a Psychologist Intern in either the Counselling or Educational Psychology category.
- Provide proof of HPCSA eligibility (such as a confirmation letter or current registration certificate).
