Background & Job Description
The NQF 2 Chemical Production Machine Operator Learnership is a practical, work-based training programme that enables successful candidates to gain skills in chemical production processes. Participants will receive formal training based on NQF Level 2 unit standards related to plant operations. This learnership also prepares learners for entry-level roles in the industry while offering hands-on exposure to production environments, chemical handling, and safety compliance procedures.
Successful applicants will be stationed at the Chloorkop site and will be exposed to various operations including working at heights and confined spaces—making it essential for applicants to be medically fit and safety-conscious.
Tasks
The main responsibilities and daily tasks include:
- Participating in NQF 2 plant operation unit standards training
- Loading and offloading raw materials and chemical product bags
- Maintaining general housekeeping on the production floor
- Operating machinery under the supervision of a certified Plant Operator
- Completing and maintaining production process documentation
- Monitoring production processes post-competency declaration
- Complying with safety protocols including working at heights
- Preparing to obtain forklift driving certification
- Being available for shift work and overtime as necessary
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum academic criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) with Science and Mathematics as subjects is essential
- Basic computer literacy
Experience
- No prior working experience is required
- Exposure to technical or mechanical environments is advantageous but not mandatory
- The programme is best suited for youthful, enthusiastic learners who are eager to grow within the chemical manufacturing sector
