Key Responsibilities

As a Phlebotomist at Ampath, you will play a crucial role in providing quality customer service and facilitating pathology analysis by collecting blood and non-blood specimens. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Client Relations: Build and maintain good relationships with patients and promote the positive image of Ampath.
  • Phlebotomy Procedures: Perform blood and non-blood specimen collections to support the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • Administrative Tasks: Ensure accurate recording and processing of information related to patient specimens and care.
  • Cash Management: Oversee the financial transactions at the Care Centre, ensuring payment for services rendered.
  • Safety and Quality Control: Uphold the standards required in the phlebotomy environment by performing necessary safety and quality tasks.

Requirements

To apply for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • HPCSA/SANC Registration: Candidates must hold a valid HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) or SANC (South African Nursing Council) registration.
  • Phlebotomy or Nursing Qualification: Relevant qualifications in phlebotomy or nursing are required.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a similar role within a pathology lab or hospital environment is essential.
