Purpose of the Position
The primary goal of the Learner Technician role is to process specimens according to established criteria and standards within the microbiology laboratory. The successful candidate will work across various benches in the lab to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of results. This hands-on role provides a comprehensive learning experience in microbiology while contributing to the high standards of healthcare services provided by Ampath Laboratories.
Requirements
To be eligible for the Learner Technician position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 with English, Biology (Life Sciences), and Mathematics (required)
- HPCSA Registration in the relevant register and practice field (required)
- South African ID or valid South African work permit (required)
Required Experience and Knowledge
The ideal candidate should have completed experiential training in a training laboratory and possess knowledge in the following areas:
- Ampath Microbiology document system
- HPCSA regulations
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)
Key Responsibilities
As a Learner Technician in Microbiology, your responsibilities will include:
- Client Relations: Maintaining good client relations to promote the positive image of Ampath Laboratories.
- General Tasks: Assisting with general tasks to support best practices within the microbiology laboratory.
- Meditech System: Performing receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech System to ensure proper handling, preparation, and recording of specimens and results.
- Specimen Processing: Processing specimens on various benches in the laboratory to ensure the timely delivery of accurate results.
