What is the Apprentice Welder Program at Transnet?
The Apprentice Welder Program at Transnet is a comprehensive training initiative aimed at preparing individuals to operate independently and productively in the welding trade. As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in:

• Planning, preparing, manufacturing, and assembling components
• Inspecting and commissioning installations and assemblies
• Modifying and repairing trade-related equipment

This program is available across multiple regions in South Africa, including Durban, Germiston, Koedoespoort, and Salt River, making it accessible nationwide.

Role Responsibility
As an apprentice welder, you will be trained to:

• Plan and prepare work sites, equipment, tools, and materials for trade-related activities
• Use hand, power, and measuring tools effectively
• Install, assemble, fit, and connect trade-related equipment
• Test, inspect, commission, and maintain welding installations and equipment
