The Transnet Apprenticeship Programme is part of the company’s Human Capital Development Strategy, designed to upskill individuals into becoming qualified artisans. Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following educational qualifications:
- N2 Subjects: Electrical Trade Theory, Industrial Electronics, Engineering Science
- N3 Subjects: Industrial Electronics, Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Electro-technology/Electrotechnics, Fitting & Machining, Engineering Drawing
- NCV Level 4 Fundamentals: English (First Additional Language), Pure Mathematics, Life Orientation, plus vocational subjects (Engineering Process, Applied Engineering Technology, Fitting & Turning, etc.)
- Technical Grade 12: Pure Mathematics, Engineering and Graphic Design, Physical Science, Fitting & Machining, Mechanical Technology, Home Language and Additional Language
- Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old
Additional Requirements
- South African citizenship is compulsory
- Applicants must not hold any other bursary obligations
- Preference will be given to South African youth below 35 years
Role Responsibility
Apprentices will be responsible for:
- Attending all training sessions (theoretical, practical, and workplace)
- Completing logbooks and training requests as prescribed by trainers
- Studying and preparing for the final trade test
- Complying with Transnet’s rules and regulations during the programme
- Participating fully in assessments and feedback sessions
