Job Description
The successful Human Resources Interns will rotate across various departments within the AGSA, gaining exposure and building skills in multiple facets of human capital management. The internship is structured to provide operational support while allowing interns to learn through practical involvement in real-time HR projects and processes.

Strategic Function

  • Assist in the implementation of Business Unit (BU) Balanced Score Card (BSC) initiatives
  • Support strategic HR initiatives that align with AGSA’s organizational goals

Product Management

  • Support full recruitment cycle: drafting job descriptions, posting job ads, screening applications
  • Assist with interviews, reference checks, and onboarding of new hires
  • Maintain and update employee data in HR systems
  • Generate reports and support HR analytics
  • Facilitate performance management: help prepare appraisal documentation, track review timelines
  • Organize employee training sessions and track participation
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and team-building events
  • Support HR compliance through policy adherence and up-to-date knowledge of labour laws
  • Draft internal communication and maintain HR documentation

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and sustain professional relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Track and manage stakeholder queries, ensuring accurate and timely feedback
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless communication and project execution

People Management

  • Manage your own deliverables to ensure productivity
  • Participate in or lead transformation and company culture initiatives
  • Provide admin support for centre management tasks and team-related responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Comply with AGSA’s financial and procurement policies
  • Follow internal control procedures
  • Participate in supply chain management within the scope of your duties

Other Responsibilities

  • Take part in ad-hoc projects and tasks as required by the HR department or organization at large

Role Responsibility
Interns will be expected to:

  • Help facilitate HR compliance through record-keeping and policy adherence
  • Maintain a learning mindset throughout the 24-month internship programme
  • Support internal communication efforts and organizational change projects
  • Ensure that all assigned tasks are executed professionally and efficiently

Skills & Attributes

Administration and Support

  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team

MS Office Proficiency

  • MS Word: Document drafting and editing
  • MS Excel: Data entry, tracking, and simple analytics
  • MS PowerPoint: Creating and formatting presentations

Technical Skills

  • Basic understanding of HR practices and labour law in South Africa
  • Familiarity with HR software or systems is an advantage

Formal Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Human Resources
