Role Responsibility

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Boxer, your role will encompass a broad range of responsibilities focused on effective cost management, project oversight, and team leadership. Below are the key areas of responsibility.

1. Cost and Budget Management

  • Prepare cost feasibilities, approximate estimates, and cost plans for retail projects.
  • Conduct detailed quantity surveying to ensure projects remain on budget and adhere to timelines.
  • Oversee the preparation of Bills of Quantities, specifications, and schedules of rates in line with industry standards.
  • Manage and update standard cost databases for enhanced efficiency in future projects.

2. Contract and Procurement Management

  • Lead contract negotiations with suppliers and contractors to secure the best value for the organization.
  • Create detailed and accurate cost estimates that guide procurement decisions.
  • Prepare and manage final accounts, claims, tenders, and estimations while ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as JBCC contracts.

3. Project Coordination and Risk Management

  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to monitor the financial aspects of various property developments.
  • Identify and mitigate cost-related risks to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

4. Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of services.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in property development, preferably within the FMCG retail sector.
  • Demonstrated success in cost management, contract negotiation, and budget control.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and cost estimating tools such as CCS Candy.
  • Familiarity with JBCC contracts and other relevant construction standards.
  • Membership in a relevant professional association is advantageous.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
