The Disaster Management Internship Programme provides structured workplace training for graduates. Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Disaster Management, Public Administration, Office Administration, or a related qualification
  • Certified copy of academic records and results sheet
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS, and Google Earth)
  • Excellent communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging weather conditions

Role Responsibility

Interns will play an important role in supporting the Division: Disaster Management. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with responses to incidents and disasters
  • Compiling and submitting disaster management reports
  • Coordinating stakeholder engagements and maintaining effective communication
  • Supporting the roll-out of disaster risk reduction projects
  • Liaising with role-players on incidents, risk assessments, and early warning systems
  • Assisting in the facilitation of training and awareness programmes for communities
  • Providing administrative and operational support to the division
