What is the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality Internship Programme 2025?
The programme is a 12-month fixed-term internship contract designed for unemployed South African graduates who wish to gain practical work experience. With placements across multiple municipal departments, it provides exposure in fields ranging from administration and finance to social work, engineering, firefighting, and ICT.
Interns will be given structured mentorship, ensuring that they develop both technical and professional skills while serving the public.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in a relevant field (HR, ICT, Administration, Environmental Health, Finance, Social Work, Legal Studies, Water Care, Town Planning, Electrical Engineering)
- Academic record confirming completion of theoretical studies
- For in-service training: Proof from institution confirming the requirement
Firefighter Internships
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Firefighter I & II Certificates
- Hazmat Awareness & Operations Certificate
- First Aid Level 3
General Criteria
- Must be an unemployed South African citizen
- Willing to work in municipal offices and community services
Role Responsibility
Interns will:
- Assist in day-to-day municipal operations within assigned departments
- Support planning, reporting, and service delivery functions
- Contribute to projects that directly benefit the community
- Participate in workplace mentorship and training sessions

- Satellite Offices: Emanzana, Elukwatini, Empuluzi, and Ekulindeni
