Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A minimum educational level of Grade 10.
- At least one year of experience in a similar environment.
- Must not be colour blind.
- Must be medically and physically fit to perform the duties.
Core Responsibilities
As a General Assistant in the Energy Department, your key responsibilities will include:
- Cable Laying and Electrical Maintenance
- Perform the laying of cables for electrical reticulation systems.
- Participate in the installation, construction, and maintenance of electrical service connections.
- Handling Equipment and Materials
- Move and handle heavy equipment required for reticulation maintenance and LPU metering installation projects.
- Overhead Line Construction
- Assist in planting poles and constructing overhead lines as part of reticulation maintenance and LPU metering installation projects.
- Operation and Maintenance of Equipment
- Operate and maintain plant and mechanical equipment and tools, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain work sites in a safe and orderly condition.
- General Maintenance Duties
- Perform tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, painting, and other general maintenance activities to ensure the efficient functioning of the department.
- Compliance with Safety Regulations
- Adhere to all safety regulations and standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
- Assistance to Supervisors
- Provide support to supervisors by carrying out work-related instructions promptly and effectively.
