Background & Job Description

The City of Tshwane is inviting qualified and dedicated professionals to apply for 11 Environmental Health Practitioner positions on a fixed-term 12-month contract basis. These roles are designed to enhance the city’s capacity to deliver crucial environmental health services aligned with national standards and municipal guidelines.

Environmental Health Practitioners (EHPs) will be tasked with executing functions based on policy and procedural directives to safeguard public health across the municipality. The positions are open to all demographic categories and form a critical part of the Tshwane municipality’s public health management team.


Tasks

Environmental Health Practitioners will be responsible for implementing and monitoring a wide range of public health services, including:

  • Food control and hygiene inspections
  • Waste management and disposal compliance
  • Chemical safety monitoring
  • Health surveillance of various premises
  • Prevention and control of communicable diseases
  • Environmental pollution control strategies
  • Supervision of safe disposal practices for human remains
  • Water quality sampling and reporting

Qualifications

Experience

Basic Clinical Services
