Key Responsibilities

As a Shop Assistant Cashier, your primary responsibility is to ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers. You will be expected to:

  • Efficiently Manage Point of Sale Operations: Execute all activities at the point of sale with accuracy and efficiency. This includes scanning merchandise, processing payments, and handling clubcard rewards.
  • Promote Clicks’ Clubcard: Actively promote and enroll new members into the Clicks’ Clubcard program to meet participation targets.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Serve as a brand ambassador by delivering friendly, professional, and visible customer service that enhances the overall shopping experience.
  • Merchandising and Housekeeping: Maintain store standards by executing merchandising tasks and ensuring the store is clean and well-organized.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the latest products, promotions, and events to provide accurate information to customers.

Skills and Competencies

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Retail/FMCG Experience: Understanding of retail operations, merchandising principles, and stock management procedures.
  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong focus on delivering excellent customer service.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively with customers.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills for point of sale operations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • Experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG environment is desirable.

Education:

  • Essential: Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Desirable: A minimum of 50% in Maths and English at Grade 12 level.
