The Cummins Engine Workshop Technician Apprenticeship 2025 offers candidates practical, hands-on exposure in engine repair and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) plus:
      • N3 (Nated Certificate) in Engineering Studies with passes in Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, and Diesel Trade Theory/Motor Trade Theory/Mechanotechnology.
      • N4 in Engineering Studies with passes in Mathematics, Engineering Science, Mechanical Draughting, and Mechanotechnics.
      • N6 in Mechanical Engineering with passes in at least four subjects such as Mathematics, Mechanotechnics, Mechanical Drawing and Design, Power Machines, Fluid Mechanics, Physics, Strength of Materials, or Supervisory Management.
    • OR NCV Level 4 from a TVET college with passes in Engineering Process, Professional Engineering Practice, Applied Engineering Technology, Automotive Repair & Maintenance, Mathematics, English First Language, Life Skills, and Computer Literacy.
  • Work Competencies:
    • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical product repair and maintenance.
    • Ability to disassemble, reassemble, and inspect engines or power generators.
    • Strong mechanical knowledge aligned with Cummins and industry standards.
    • Effective troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
    • Valid motor vehicle driver’s license.

Role Responsibility

  • Support workshop operations by assisting with general tasks for smooth workflow.
  • Maintain cleanliness, inspect equipment, and disassemble parts to ensure a safe, organized environment.
  • Master repair techniques by following Standard Repair Times (SRTs) and established procedures.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of completed work, time sheets, and records.
  • Develop technical skills through structured training aligned with business and personal growth needs.
  • Care for tools and equipment by keeping them maintained and ready for use.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by reporting issues or incidents to supervisors.
