The primary purpose of this role is to develop the knowledge and skills required to sort and value rough diamonds based on the 4C’s principles (Carat, Cut, Color, and Clarity) established by De Beers. This role includes on-the-job training, where you will be expected to perform sorting tasks while enhancing your expertise in diamond valuation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Adhering to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
- Ensuring security by following strict procedures to protect the company’s assets.
- Completing production tasks to high-quality standards.
- Operating diamond sorting technology.
- Collaborating effectively within the team to meet deadlines.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Matric with at least a 50% pass in Mathematics and proficiency in English and one other official language.
- Previous experience in diamond valuation or grading is advantageous.
- Good eyesight (not color blind), manual dexterity, and 3-dimensional visualization skills.
- Strong communication skills, honesty, and integrity.
- Computer literacy in MS Excel and Word.
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo the following assessments:
- Integrity testing (including polygraph testing and personal vetting).
- Security clearance and pre-employment medical exams.
- Eye tests for color blindness and 3D perception.
- Other pre-recruitment assessments as deemed necessary by the organization.
