Requirements

To be considered for the Radiographer positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: National Diploma or Degree in Diagnostic Radiography, enabling registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Registration: Current registration with HPCSA as an independent Radiographer. Candidates must also have their annual registration with HPCSA for the 2024/2025 period.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic understanding of public service acts and human resources policies.
  • Familiarity with quality assessment procedures and methods in accordance with the radiation control directorate.
  • Proficiency in patient care, organization, communication, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and specialized radiology procedures and equipment. Department of Health: X4 Radiographer Grade 1

Key Responsibilities

As a Radiographer at Tambo Memorial Hospital, you will be expected to:

  1. Service Delivery:
  • Provide high-quality radiography services while adhering to safe radiation protection standards.
  • Professionally utilize and maintain radiology equipment to ensure safety and compliance with professional guidelines.
  • Compile and manage reports and statistics relevant to radiology services.
  1. Training and Supervision:
  • Assist in training students and community service diagnostic radiographers.

  • Perform necessary administrative tasks related to radiography services.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement programs.
  • Promote the Batho-Pele principles to ensure effective service delivery.
  1. Patient Interaction:
  • Provide clear information to patients regarding diagnostic radiography procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations to protect patients and staff.
  1. Operational Management:
  • Supervise and manage the provision of 24-hour radiography services.
  • Implement cost-saving measures in alignment with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
  • Ensure patient safety through incident reporting and collaboration with internal professionals.

  • Ensure the Z83 form is fully completed, initialed, and signed. The department where the position was advertised should be stated as the Department of Health.
  1. Supporting Documents:
  • According to DPSA Circular 19 of 2022, applicants are not required to submit copies of qualifications, service certificates, and other documents with the application.
  • The Z83 form must be accompanied by a detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae (CV), listing all experience in chronological order. The CV must include the institution, position, and dates (DD/MM/YYYY) of employment.
  1. Further Requirements:
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be requested to submit certified copies of qualifications, service certificates, and other relevant documents before the interview.
  • Candidates with foreign qualifications must provide an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

  • Personnel Suitability Checks: The HR department will conduct thorough Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) and Verification Checks.
  • Medical Surveillance: The recommended candidate may be required to undergo medical surveillance as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 5/1993.
