As a DIRCO Cadet, you’ll be immersed in the dynamic world of international relations, working alongside experienced diplomats and gaining practical skills in areas such as:

  • Policy analysis and research: Contributing to the development of South Africa’s foreign policy positions.
  • Diplomacy and negotiation: Assisting in representing South Africa at international forums and bilateral meetings.
  • Consular services: Providing support to South African citizens abroad.
  • Protocol and etiquette: Learning the intricacies of diplomatic protocol and procedures.
  • International cooperation: Engaging with international organizations and foreign governments on various projects.

This Learnership Programme offers a structured learning experience, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. You’ll receive mentorship from seasoned professionals, participate in workshops and seminars, and gain exposure to the diverse facets of South Africa’s foreign policy.

Requirements:

  • Minimum NQF level 7 qualification in International Relations, African Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law, International Trade and Investment, Political Economy, Development Studies, Development Economics, Public Governance/Administration, or a related field.  
  • South African citizen between 18-35 years of age at the closing date of the advertisement.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Passion for international affairs and diplomacy.
