Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier at Dis-Chem, you will play a critical role in providing world-class service to customers at the point of sale. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Customer Interaction: Support and serve customers efficiently at the till points, ensuring they have a positive shopping experience.
- Transaction Handling: Accurately record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies, ensuring zero tolerance for inaccuracies and reducing the risk of fraud.
- Cash Management: Manage cash flow responsibly, ensuring all money is safely secured inside the till and handled according to company policies.
- Customer Support: Address customer queries and complaints, exchange merchandise when authorized, and ensure customers are aware of current promotions and sales.
- Security and Compliance: Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of customers and colleagues.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric
- Experience: At least 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
- Skills: Computer literacy (MS Office), sound numerical skills, and a strong command of the English language
- Customer Service: Basic customer service skills, with a willingness to work retail hours
