Background & Job Description

Emalahleni Local Municipality is offering an exciting opportunity for qualified and experienced individuals to apply for 18 vacant Traffic Officer positions within its Community Services Department. This full-time opportunity is ideal for candidates who hold Matric along with a valid traffic officer qualification and a Code EB driver’s license. These roles aim to enhance road safety, enforce municipal bylaws, and support public awareness through educational traffic campaigns.

Successful candidates will play a crucial role in maintaining order on the roads, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, and promoting a safer, more organized transport environment for all residents of Emalahleni.


Tasks

  • Monitor traffic movement and manage road situations across designated patrol areas.
  • Identify and respond to illegally parked vehicles.
  • Enforce traffic regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
  • Report incidents or violations that fall outside immediate enforcement capacity.
  • Conduct traffic awareness campaigns and lead educational traffic programmes.
  • Actively prevent traffic rule violations through visible presence and proactive engagement.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
  • NQF Level 5 Qualification in Basic Traffic Training
  • Valid Code EB Driver’s License
  • Proof of Firearm Proficiency
  • No Criminal Record

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years’ relevant working experience in traffic law enforcement or related public safety fields is required.
