Introduction

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment (DFFE) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for 139 Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) vacancies across South Africa. Job Description

Successful candidates will play an integral role in supporting the EPWP initiative by performing various administrative and operational tasks. These roles require individuals with a basic understanding of government structures, reporting protocols, and data management. Selected candidates will gain hands-on experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and administrative reporting.

Ideal Candidate

To qualify for these positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: A recognized three-year Bachelor’s Degree, National Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of work experience (entry-level positions available).
  • Knowledge Requirements:
    • Basic understanding of the EPWP framework
    • Familiarity with reporting systems and coordination between national, provincial, and municipal governments
    • Ability to work with data reconciliation and exception reporting

Role Responsibility

The key duties and responsibilities of the EPWP roles include:

  • Database Management: Developing and maintaining a comprehensive database for EPWP reports from various public bodies.
  • Reporting: Capturing monthly progress reports into EPWP systems for accurate documentation.
  • Exception Reports: Identifying and providing reports on missing or incorrect data submissions.
  • Reconciliation of Reports: Ensuring all captured reports align with actual project progress and advising management of any discrepancies.
  • Tracking and Monitoring: Monitoring EPWP submissions and ensuring timely reporting from relevant stakeholders.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic project coordination and administrative skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
