Key Responsibilities
As an Operational Basic Ambulance Assistant, your primary duties will include:
- Emergency Preparedness: Ensuring operational readiness to respond effectively to emergency calls.
- Patient Care Delivery: Providing basic medical assistance in line with the scope of practice and healthcare regulations.
- Public Relations: Promoting ER24’s professional image and maintaining positive interactions with the public.
Education Requirements
- Essential Qualification: Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate.
- Desired Qualification: Completion of Clinical Practice Guidelines training as published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Note: If not compliant with these guidelines at the time of application, successful candidates must complete this training during the probation period.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Experience (Essential): 6 months to 1 year of road-based Basic Life Support (BLS) experience.
- Preferred Experience: 2 years of road-based BLS experience.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
Candidates must possess the following skills and knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of local facilities, travel routes, and geographical demographics.
- Familiarity with HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
- Knowledge of best practices in emergency medical services (EMS).
- Proficiency in the English language (verbal and written).
- Ability to accurately complete Patient Report Forms.
