Introduction
Eskom Utilityman (General Workers) 2025 Eskom Rotek Industries (ERI), a vital division of Eskom, plays an instrumental role in delivering essential operational and maintenance services across the energy sector. As part of their ongoing commitment to maintaining operational excellence and workplace safety, ERI is currently recruiting eight (8) dedicated Utilitymen at their Vaal Dam site in Gauteng. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are physically fit, self-disciplined, and eager to work in a technically demanding environment.
This role is essential in ensuring cleanliness, operational readiness, and general support in workshops and operational spaces. Candidates must be comfortable with physical labour and have a foundational understanding of workshop safety practices and operational procedures.
Job Description:
The Utilityman position entails performing a wide range of unskilled yet essential manual tasks in support of the Bulk Material Handling operations at the Vaal Dam. The successful candidates will engage in heavy-duty labour such as lifting, pushing, pulling, holding, and general support involving tools and equipment. They will contribute to ensuring a clean and safe working environment for all workshop activities.
Key Focus Areas Include:
- Performing manual labour and heavy lifting as required in daily operations.
- Cleaning and maintaining workshop areas in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Handling and moving operational equipment with care and precision.
- Assisting technical teams in basic tasks related to tools and operations.
- Actively participating in toolbox talks and SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Quality) sessions.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Minimum of Grade 12 (Matric certificate).
- Work Experience:
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a technical or operational field.
- Proven experience in cleaning and maintaining workshop environments.
Role Responsibility:
As a Utilityman, you will be responsible for:
- Keeping workshops clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
- Maintaining housekeeping standards that support productivity and safety.
- Ensuring that tools and equipment are organized and properly stored.
- Reporting safety hazards and engaging in preventive actions through HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment).
- Participating in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Complying with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
