First National Bank (FNB) invites ambitious graduates to apply for the Private Banking and Advice (PB&A) Graduate Programme 2026, a competitive and elite career opportunity for individuals looking to excel in private banking and wealth management.
This graduate programme is designed as a contract-based training initiative tailored for top graduates with a passion for finance and investment. Successful applicants will undergo intensive on-the-job learning, attend industry meetings, shadow experienced private banking professionals, and conduct financial research.
The aim is to build a pipeline of highly skilled Private Advisors who can confidently serve high-net-worth clients with tailored financial planning, estate management, and investment strategies.
Tasks
Participants in the PB&A Graduate Programme 2026 will engage in real-world activities and gain exposure to various facets of private banking, including:
- Attending client and business meetings alongside senior advisors
- Shadowing experienced Private Advisors and wealth managers
- Conducting research and drafting reports on financial trends and investment strategies
- Gaining practical exposure to regulatory, compliance, and client service operations
- Learning how to manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals
- Participating in tailored training modules covering wealth planning, financial products, and estate structuring
- Developing strong technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills required in private banking
- Completing assessments and evaluations to qualify for full-time placement within FNB
Qualifications
To be eligible for the PB&A Graduate Programme, candidates must have completed:
- A FAIS-accredited undergraduate degree (NQF Level 7) or postgraduate degree (NQF Level 8)
- Preferred fields of study include:
- BCom Investments
- Financial Planning
- Estate Planning
- Financial Management
- Accounting
- Economics
Experience
While prior work experience is not required, preference will be given to candidates who:
- Demonstrate strong academic performance
- Show leadership potential and problem-solving skills
- Exhibit an interest in client engagement and financial planning
- Have relevant internship or voluntary experience in the financial sector
- Are adaptable, analytical, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
