What You’ll Be Doing
As a First Officer at FlySafair, your duties will encompass every phase of flight, with a keen focus on safety, compliance, and professionalism:
- Ensure flight safety at all stages
- Monitor aircraft systems and flight path
- Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks
- Communicate with internal departments, passengers, and external service providers
- Maintain compliance with SACAA, ICAO, and company procedures
- Take command in the event of Captain incapacitation
- Submit complete and accurate legal documentation
- Stay up to date with aviation regulations and operational manuals
- Assist in maintaining high crew standards and morale
Pre-Flight Responsibilities:
- Be fully briefed on flight routes and forecasts
- Conduct all checks as per the FlySafair Operations Manual
- Collaborate with the Captain on fuel, route restrictions, and alternatives
In-Flight Responsibilities:
- Execute and monitor normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures
- Monitor instruments and flight path
- Maintain continuous communication and situational awareness
Post-Flight Responsibilities:
- Ensure all procedures and reports are accurately completed
- Submit necessary documents such as IQSMS reports

Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- SACAA Commercial (Essential)
- SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
- Class 1 SACAA Medical (Essential)
- Type rated on Boeing (Advantageous)
- Experience on Commercial Jets over 20 Tons (Advantageous)
- Non-Type Rated or Boeing Type rated with a minimum of 1500 Hours, of which shall include 500 hours Multi-Turbine time (Essential)
- Multi Crew experience (Essential)
- No existing medical conditions
- Willing to sign applicable training bond/s
- No criminal record
- Willing to undergo a drug and alcohol test
- Own transport and RSA Driver’s License
- SA Citizen with proof of identity
- Willing to undergo Psychometric assessments
- Valid RSA Passport
- Must be willing to work irregular hours on a roster
- Must have detailed knowledge and understanding of National Aviation regulations such as SACAA, ICAO
- Knowledge of Doc 8186 (Essential)
- Knowledge of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilots licensing content
