Requirements for the Groundsman Position
- Minimum Education: ABET or an equivalent qualification.

Groundsman Responsibilities at the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport
The Groundsman will be responsible for various essential duties that contribute to the upkeep of the department’s premises. The tasks involve routine gardening work and light repairs, ensuring the grounds remain safe, clean, and attractive for all visitors and staff.
Primary Duties:
- Garden Maintenance: Provide routine care by watering plants, pruning trees and flowers, mowing lawns, and removing weeds. Keep the grounds looking well-maintained and welcoming.
- Pest Control: Apply insecticides and other pest control measures to preserve the health of plants and reduce unwanted pests.
- Soil Cultivation: Prepare and cultivate soil for new plantings, ensuring trees and flowers have optimal growing conditions.
- Equipment Handling: Maintain gardening tools and equipment; conduct minor repairs and report any significant malfunctions.
